Cashew nut oil is extracted through the cold pressing method from the seeds of Anacardium occidentale. The tree belongs to the Anarcrdiaceae family and native to the Northeast Brazil. The word ‘Cashew’ has originated from the Portugues word Caju. Cashew nuts are extracted from the fruits of Cashew apples and it is widely cultivated in Brazil and other tropical region. The tree can grow up to 30 to 36 feet high and have spiral and elliptic manner leaves.
Cashew nut oil has mild and attractive aroma and widely used in the production of a variety of cosmetic products. It is of pale yellow to dark yellow in color with the watery viscosity. This oil is very effective in case of fungal infection of skin or hair. It is widely used in the production of dental products due to its amazing properties to fight against the dental cavities.
