Geranium oil is extracted using the process of steam distillation from Pelargonium odorantissimum. The part of the plant that is used in its extraction is the stalks and the leaves. The credit for the origination of this plant is attributed to South Africa, Madagascar, Morocco, Egypt, also Reunion. Oil that is a bit characteristic to Geranium oil is rose Geranium oil but rose geranium oil is expensive in comparison. In the 17th century, this oil was introduced to the European countries of Spain, Italy and France.
This oil has got incredible blending properties with carrot seed, clary sage, cedarwood, jasmine, citronella, lime, neroli, grapefruit, lavender, basil, orange, angelica, rosemary and bergamot. As Geranium oil is highly intense, it should be totally avoided by pregnant women.
